"While the viewer is usually conscious of the sun in my paintings, it is the shadows' contrast with the sun that give the sun it's warm glow. The sun symbolizes happiness and joy in life, while the shade symbolizes sadness and coldness. This reflects my philosophy that it is the low points in our lives that make us appreciate the high points."
